Fear is your friend
As I keep doing behavioral experiments to work on my social anxiety, I notice that fear/anxiety is actual a pretty cool thing. And the end goal to treating social anxiety is not to be fearless so to say with zero fear. Rather it is about taking action despite fear.
One thing I’ve observed in people who I would say are really experienced in something/anything is that even after so much experience they still feel anxious when doing something risky.
The way to treat fear, or to be more confident, then, is not to aim towards fearlessness, but rather towards being very comfortable with that state of fear and taking action regardless. Almost as if you are detaching yourself from the part that feels fear, you are still afraid, you are not avoiding fear, you are coexisting, and you are letting your fear drive you.
